Alex learned to work with his hands during his childhood in the Carolinas, as the grandson of an amateur carpenter and the great-grandson of a professional cabinet maker. His love of building led him to jobs repairing boats, and eventually he enrolled at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy to study Marine Engineering. When he returned to Charleston, he continued his education at the College of Charleston and worked as a general laborer, eventually opening his own residential construction company. After several successful years, he found he was looking for a new challenge. “I decided I wanted to go from building homes to building works of art, and my search led me to Brenner Builders,” explains Alex, a married father of one who hunts, fishes, and sails in his spare time. “At Brenner Builders, we create works of art. There is a dedication to attention to detail and innovation here. On the job, we talk every day about how to make things better.”
