After purchasing property that was formerly part of an old horse farm, the owners wanted a house that offered the modern advantages and conveniences of new home construction while still fitting comfortably into the surroundings of an established rural community.
The solution was a 5,000-square-foot, farmhouse-style structure with a charming front porch, a side entry to a three-car garage, and an expansive bluestone terrace in the rear with shade provide by a dramatic pergola. The home has five bedrooms, five baths, full-home automation, and two-story front entry hall.
Wainscoting, used through much of the house, was milled onsite and is a custom feature of this job. A 20′ x 60′ swimming pool and a sand volleyball court grace the grounds.
The 1,000 square foot pool house, designed as an assemblage of buildings to recall rural farm structures, has an open porch, great room with fireplace, kitchenette, bathroom, sleeping loft, changing room, and outdoor shower. Fieldstone walls, a standing seam lead-coated roof, wood timber framing, and painted wood siding help the newly built pool house fit nicely with the farm-like feel of the property.
