This multi-phase renovation and expansion of a 1920s Georgian Colonial in Scarsdale resulted in an 8,000- square-foot home featuring six bedrooms and six baths. Ornamental and structural repair were necessary to bring the home back to its original, elegant state. The owner cared deeply about quality of materials, so many parts of the home now feature custom-crafted details.
Inside the home, Brenner Builders outfitted the kitchen, butler’s pantry and breakfast room with both cherry and field-painted cabinets, enameled lava stone counters, a tin ceiling, and a limestone floor. A bespoke, concentric cherry floor was installed in the new family room, and overhead, a beamed-pyramid ceiling was topped off with a cupola.
The original sunroom was exquisitely restored, and includes a domed plaster ceiling, textured walls, and refurbished door and window hardware. The exterior of the new addition was sided with custom, ornamental and veneer brick to match the original masonry.
A pool and pool house were added to the two-acre property with the pool house featuring milled-mahogany doors and specialty hardware to meet the homeowner’s aesthetic standards as well as stringent local, pool-enclosure codes. Reclaimed stone was integrated into the landscaping.
